Hi there! My name is Madeleine. I’m a freelance writer and copy editor, and a friend of Andrea.
I probably started writing before I learned how to walk. Or at least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it! I’ve worked as an ESL teacher, an English teacher, an academic writing coach, and a writer for various magazines (mostly in far off places you’ve never heard of). I’m also an avid reader. I love everything from short stories to epic novels. And, since meeting Andrea, I’ve started reading science fiction too!
I’ve travelled all over the globe and have met the most fantastic characters and I’ve written about most of my experiences too, either in journals or as short stories or blog posts. I love writing about what I see and hear. I might embellish a bit (actually, I guarantee I do) but the truth is almost always weirder and more interesting than fiction. Since Andrea and I started mining our lives for prompts, life has only gotten wackier and more wonderful.
I look forward to sharing more of my world and my life with you through our prompts and our blog. I hope you’ll find them as fun and inspiring as we do. And I hope that you’ll write us back with your own stories and prompts too!
Andrea Elisabeth Kovarcsik
My name is Andrea. I’m a freelance writer and science fiction author, and friend of Madeleine!
I’ve been writing professionally since 2012 and creatively since, well, forever. As a little girl I constantly wrote short stories and journaled. Writing was always my way of getting everything out of my brain and making sense of the world around me. Plus, it’s just really fun!
I’ve been writing my first novel for the past *mumbles* years now and have self-published one short story on Amazon Kindle, with more on the way. In addition, I run the blog The Sci-Fi Novel, where I’m reading my way through the best sci-fi of all time and taking deep dives into all sorts of amazing sci-fi themes.
Writing, in my journal or in the form of a story or blog post, is a daily practice for me. That being said, collecting these prompts with Madeleine has really opened my eyes to how wonderful and quirky our world really is. I’ve always been an imaginative person, but I’ve come to realize that, sometimes, the best stories are right in front of you.
I’ve been having a ton of fun writing from life, and I hope you will too.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
